Benefits
At UCFS full-time and part-time employees working 20 hours/week or more are benefits eligible for the following comprehensive slate of benefits:
Medical Insurance
UCFS & Employee Paid
Employee receives medical insurance coverage for themselves, their spouse or domestic partner and their dependents, if they so choose. The plan is the Open Access Plus Plan of CIGNA. Employee is eligible the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment.
Dental Insurance
UCFS & Employee Paid
Employee receives dental insurance coverage for themselves, their spouse or domestic partner and their dependents, if they so choose. Employee is eligible the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. The UCFS Dental Plan is through Delta Dental.
Flexible Spending
Pre-Tax Deduction
Employee may establish a Flexible Spending Account / Daycare Reimbursement on the 1st of the month following 30 days of employment. This is a fiscal year commitment and funds must be used within the year or will be forfeited.
Retirement
UCFS Paid & Payroll Deduction if chosen by Employee (not a matching plan)
Employees are eligible upon hire for the UCFS 401(k) Retirement Plan through salary deferral; Employee Contributions are 100 vested. After one full year of service with a minimum of 1000 hours worked, employee will receive the generous FY2011 UCFS Employer Contribution of 8.5% in keeping with the UCFS Safe Harbor Notice and vesting schedule.
Long-Term Disability
UCFS Paid
Employee receives 60% of base annual salary while out of work during disability leave (90 day waiting period applies). Employee is eligible the 1st of month following employee’s one year anniversary. Employee must work 20 hours or more per week and have completed 1,000 hours in that year. The UCFS Long-Term Disability Plan is through CIGNA.
Life Insurance
UCFS Paid
Employee is insured for one times their base annual salary. Employee is eligible the1st of month following employee's one year anniversary. Employee must work 20 hours or more per week and have completed 1,000 hours in that year. The UCFS Basic Life Insurance Plan is through CIGNA.
EAP
UCFS Paid
Employee may access Employee Assistance Program services at anytime at no expense for a specified number of appointments. This valuable benefit to our employees is designed to provide free, confidential, short-term counseling and referral by professionals trained to deal with a wide range of personal concerns.
Holidays
UCFS Paid
Eleven Holidays are recognized as paid holidays for benefit eligible employees, they include: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving Day & Christmas Day among others, in addition to floating holidays.
Vacation
UCFS Paid
Vacation will be accrued at a rate of 3 – 4 weeks per year and maybe used by employee after the initial introductory period of three months. In addition, 2 weeks per year of Sick Time will be accrued.
Voluntary Benefits

LIFE INSURANCE, SHORT-TERM DISABILITY, HOSPITALIZATION, CANCER TREATMENT & MORE
Employee may purchase voluntary benefits through payroll deduction from various carriers through EFP, Employee Family Protection Incorporated. These benefits include term & whole life insurance with a long term care component, short-term disability, hospitalization, cancer treatments, accident coverage outside of work and more. Voluntary benefits may be purchased for your spouse, your children and/or yourself. Some are portable upon leaving UCFS, thus they go with you.
