UCFS selects Mr. James Cronin as the recipient of the 2011 Palmer Davies Leadership Award.
UCFS (United Community & Family Services) will recognize Mr. James Cronin as the 6th Annual Palmer Davies Leadership Award Recipient at their Annual Meeting, October 13th at 5:00 pm to be held at the Backus Hospital Business & Technology Center at 111 Stott Avenue.
More than 100 years ago, Mrs. Fannie Palmer and Mrs. Emily Davies walked across the Norwichtown Green one afternoon and discussed the development of an association that would relieve all forms of suffering. Their idea was the foundation for what is today, United Community & Family Services. Two years ago, UCFS created an award to recognize individuals in the community who have fostered an environment of community spirit and understanding that reflects the mission and organization's values, much in the same way that Palmer and Davies first envisioned their idea more than
a century ago.
We proudly honor Mr. James Cronin, Dime Bank Board Chairman with the 6th Annual Palmer Davies Leadership award for his commitment to the community. Mr. Cronin was instrumental in forming The Dime Bank Foundation in 1998, and since its inception has provided over $1.3M dollars to community organizations. Mr. Cronin serves on the board of several organizations and is a past Director/Treasurer of UCFS. “Jim is a true community leader, stepping outside his role as a bank president, to address issues dealing with homelessness and housing. As a private sector CEO, Jim put the community’s welfare on an equal footing with the health of his institution. He has inspired many people to help their neighbors and friends who needed assistance with their lives.” stated Chuck Seeman, President/CEO of UCFS.
