Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry at UCFS

The Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry

Food insecurity affects thousands of individuals and families in New London County. Nearly 1 in 6 residents—and 1 in 5 children—experience hunger, with many relying on local food pantries and community programs for support. Rising costs and economic challenges continue to drive increased need.

In 2017, UCFS Healthcare established The Rosalyn Allen Food Pantry to support patients facing food insecurity. In its first year, the pantry served 1,800 clients. As demand grew, services expanded to include both patients and members of the community.

During the pandemic, the pantry launched mobile food distribution events in Preston, Colchester, Plainfield, and Norwich. These events continue today, and the pantry remains a vital resource for the community.
